It is always fun to learn about people we meet.  So I would like to tell you a little bite about us.  Steve attended undergraduate school at Duke University receiving a BS in chemistry.  He received his PhD in biochemistry at UCLA. His thesis professor, Dr. Paul Boyer, was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry based on some of the research Steve did for his doctoral theses.  He did his post graduate studies on the regulation of genetic information at Washington University in St. Louis.  He presently is professor of biochemistry, biophysics and nutrition in the Department of Biochemistry of the University of North Carolina medical school.
About Dr. Steve & Suzanne Chaney

He currently holds the UNC Medical Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professorship.  He has been teaching medical students, dental students and running a cancer research laboratory at UNC for 34 years.  He is the author of 100 peer reviewed scientific journal article and the author of the nutrition chapters of the most widely used medical school biochemistry text book. Steve is internationally known for his research on the biochemistry of the interaction of platinum adduct anticancer drugs with cellular DNA.
Suzanne received her BS in biology from the University of Southern California and her Masters degree in biochemistry from UCLA.  After graduate school, she did post graduate work at St. Louis University’s Institute of Virology studying the replication of viral RNA & DNA.  She worked for Burroughs Wellcome (now Smith, Galaxo, Kline) where she focused on brain neural transmitter kinetics and drug interaction.  After two years at Burroughs Wellcome, she was hired by the Environment Protection Agency to run a clinical chemistry lab in their Human Studies Division.  After ten years with the EPA, Suzanne started her own nutrition consulting business, which she is still actively involved in.
